[Verse 1] [A]In a land pretty nearby, not so far away, not so long ago, a kind of flat, boring land, lots of parking lots and shopping malls and people staring into space, and men trying not to cry, women trying not to buy too many things, but failing, and the men crying when they got their credit card bills. There lived a culture that would eat itself and throw the leftovers to third world countries, This culture was called the blob. Like most blobs, this culture was slow and sluggish and would consume anything in its path. If you fitted a vibrant culture, it would excrete a pale, watered -down version, feeding the blob a bongo drum player. For example, the blob would gurgle and make some gross noises, and out the other end would come a pale man with a thin mustache and a bowl haircut And a turtleneck and a bongo drum wanted restoration hardware And you would be playing the worst, worst, worst drum pattern you ever heard And for those spiritually minded, the blob proved especially frustrating In one end goes the Bible out, the other end comes a megachurch And so those spiritually minded had to break from the blob So as to see the beauty of life and the wonders of the infinite On occasion, those seeking to escape the blob merely change their location, forgetting that to truly escape the blob, one must go inwards. These people were called spiritual tourists, and they wore all the right clothes and said all the right words, but inside their hearts they hadn't changed a bit. This is the story of three such spiritual tourists, named Agitated Larry, Stagnant Stan, and Gary happy.
