And he fired the arrow with a great loud

[G]WHIST!
[Dm]The arrow [Am]shot through the a[Dm]ir.
WHACK!
[C]The apple fell off of
John's hair.
[Am]His friends all cheered, and
Marion did say,
There's an arrow shoot
[Bb]ing contest today!
Little
[Am]John said they should go.
All right, said
Robin, and picked up his [C]bow.
Outside the [Dm]forest, they found the contest,
in a field of tent[C]s and flags with crests.
When [Am]they got [Dm]there,
they felt a bit scared.
[G]Tall knights and [C]princes were
everywhere.
[G]Oh no!
[F]It's the
[G]Sheriff!
[Am]Robin
Hood groaned.
Cripes!
Little
John and
[G]Mari[F]on moaned.
[Em]The
Sheriff of
[Am]Nottingham was
standing right there.
He was big and ugly with
[G]greasy [F]grey hair.[Em]
[Am]The
Sheriff was not a very nice man
and catching
Robin had long been his plan.
But the shooting contest was about to [Dm]start,
[Am]so
Robin decided he couldn't lose heart.
The sheriff, he snarled at them nastily,
[G#]Robin
Hood, [F]you can't [Em]beat me!
[Am]His arrows were blue and sharp a[G#]s a knife.
He [F]had the biggest bow
Robin [Em]had seen in his [E]life.[Em]
[Dm]Robin
Hood [Am]laughed and picked up his bow.
At the target [Dm]he aimed his [Am]first arrow.
[Dm]His arrow flew and
Robin's friends giggled.
[Am]PING!
[Dm]It hit the [Eb]target right in t[Dm]he middle.
[Am]The
Sheriff [E]of
Nottingham growled an[Em]d he scowled.
[C]That trophy's min[B]e. I'll win[G] it right now.
He [Em]walked up [Am]to the target
[Dm]with a smirk and a hiss.
[G]He sto[Em]od so close that he
[G]couldn't miss.
Thunk!
[Am]At the target the
[B]sheriff he shot.
[Dm]What a cheat![Em]
[Am]A fair [Em]shot it was not.
[B]Marion had a [Am]thought and
giggled with [G]glee.
[C]Little
[Am]John, [Em]she whispered,
make a [Dm]noise like a [Am]bee.
[G]The sheriff [Dm]he sneered,
[Am]I told you I'll wi[Dm]n.
He [Am]strung his blue arrow ready with a [Em]grin and
walked [Am]close again for the [Dm]last round.
[Em]But then he hear[Am]d a buzz,
buzzing sound.
It's a swarm of bees! yelled
Marian [Em]with glee.
[E]Grrrrrrr! yel[Em]led the she[C]riff.
[G]I hate bees!
He [E]turned an[Em]d his arrow
[Am]missed the shot.
Did the sheriff hit [B]the target?
No, he did not.
Now
[Am]Robin quickly picked up his bow.
Ready, he aimed his last [B]arrow.
His first shot was good,
but this was [Am]even better.
[Eb]PING!
It hit the target right in the centre.
[Am]Robin was the winner,
as everyone [Am]could see.
So he won the gleaming
gold trophy.
[C]The three friends [G]did high fives,
[F]and they danced.
[G]An d back to the [C]forest,
they [Dm]mer rily [C]pranced.
