[F]Santa lay in bed, wearing [Em]his hat.

He was [Em]snuffling and sneezing,
[F]and outside it was [G]dark and freezing.
[Em]Oh, I've got t[Am]he worst cold,
[G]Santa said.
He put his hand to his sore old head.
I [Dm]simply can't make [Am]presents this year.
An[Dm]d then he [C]shed a great big tea[G]r.
[Am]What [Dm]shall I do?
[C]He sai[Dm]d to his elv[Em]es,
who'd been [G]busy stacking shells.
[Em]Oh dear, [Dm]said [C]little elf

Boo.
[Em]We just can't [Dm]deliver them

[Dm]They tried to think of another
[G]way that they could save
Christmas
[Dm]Day.
But [G]nothing could be done at all.
The elves began to cry and [Dm]bawl.
We'll [G]have to tell them,
[Em]Santa said then.
[G]So he wrote to the children whilst
in [Dm]bed that poor
[G]Santa had a bad [Em]shiver an
[Am]d no presents [Dm]would he deliver[Am].
[C]George lived on a s[G]treet far
away and [Dm]read
Santa's letter the next [G]day.
Next door [F]so did little
[Dm]Mary too.
[G]Ray read his then an[C]d so did
Sue.
George called his friends outside.
Have [Em]you read this? he [C]sighed.
[Em]No presents.
Poor
Santa, [Dm]said
Sue.
He must be feeling really blue.
[Em]The children all felt a bit [Dm]glum that
[G]Santa was [Dm]sick and wouldn't [Am]come.

George had [G]a great idea of how
to bring some
[C]Christmas cheer.
[Em]I know!
[C]To cheer him up,
let's send something to
Santa, [G]our good friend, [Dm]kind
George said to the others.
[F]Yay, let's mak[G]e presents, said
Ray.
[C]So they all spent the [Dm]rest of the day painting
pictures and [Em]making things.
They wrapped them up with sparkly strings.
[C]Mary painted
Santa a snowy [Dm]scene,
Sue wrote a story about a queen,
Ray made [F]a reindeer
out of a box, and
[Dm]George knitted [G]a pair of socks.
They gave themselves [C]a toast and popped the presents in the post,
[Dm]all addressed to
Santa
at the
North
[Em]Pole.
[F]Hooray!
They had achieved their goal.

Christmas morning,
Santa [Am]awoke.
Sniff!
[G]With a cough and [F]a croak.
[Em]But all around him
were
[Dm]Christmas gifts.
[Em]Straight away,
his [F]spirits did lift.

I can't believe it!
Old
Santa [C]said.
He jumped for joy
in [G]his hat so red.
[F]Bright [G]magic lights appeared in the sky[C],
and the happy children [C]knew just why.
