or clouds, [G]or birds, or boats, or shore.
[A]But the most exc[D]iting thing she saw was
a long wooden [Bm]ship with sails and oars.
Its flag[A]s gleamed like the mer[Bm]maid's scales,
and a handsome prince [D]stood by the [Bm]rails.
He [D]saw her sparkly [F#m]tail.

A [D]real mermaid! [F#m]he rubbed his ey[G]es.
[A]Ahoy the[D]re! he smi[F#m]led in [G]a friendly way.
[A]Ahoy [D]!" she grinned [F#m]and sp[G]lashed away.

[F#m]huge clouds covered the s[Bm]ky.
A storm arrived!
The prince shouted,
Oh [F#m]my!
Thunder [Bm]rumbled and lightning flashed.
Big [F#m]sea waves went crash, crash, [Bm]crash.
[F#m]Grisly grey waves were growl[Bm]ing.
[D]Horrible winds and rain were
[Em]howling.
The wooden ship rocked from side
[F#m]to side.
[Bm]Goodness gracious,
the poor prince cried.
Then [D]the littlest mermaid suddenly saw
[Em]A sharp black rock the ship
[F#m]was heading for.
Watch out! [Bm]she yelled and pointed at it.
The [D]ship swerved left,
so it didn't get [Em]hit.
[F#m]Grizzly grey [Bm]waves were groaning.
Horrible [F#m]winds and rain were
moaning.
[Bm]The wooden ship rocked from side to side.
I [F#m]can't see the way
!" the poor prince [Bm]cried.
Then the littlest mermaid [F#m]suddenly saw a
whirling [Bm]whirlpool right by the oars.
She [D]stopped it like a cork with her [Em]tail.
Thanks to her, the [F#m]ship didn't fail.
[Bm]Grizzly grey waves were [F#m]wailing,
[Bm]hor rible winds and [F#m]rain were yowling.
Crash!
[Bm]Crash!
Crash!
Smash!

The big [Bm]ship rocked and
lightning flashed.
[D]Then the littlest mermaid
[Em]saw what to do.
Follow [F#m]me! she called and smiled too.

guide the ship like a golden sail.
The ship followed [D]her through the waves.

Then, [D]the [F#m]sun came out and
[G]the storm cleared.

[F#m]The prince and sailors ch[G]eered.
[A]The prince jumped for [D]joy.

danced [G]on deck and in the [D]water then.
[A]The prince gave [Bm]littlest mermaid a [G]medal for
being so [D]brave and [A]smart and special.
