[Em]because we don't [E]have all the arrangements,
[Em]we don't have the harmon
[E]ies
that we used to play
[A]with Duke Ellington's [E]band.
We're just playing them off [Em]the top,
playing the arrangements and the song[E]s
and [Em]the compositions
[E]off the [A]top of our heads.
[Em]And of course the fills are done
[F]by the fellas [E]in the band
very ably I might say,
and I'm glad that it's coming
out the way it is,
but [Em]I really didn't intend
[E]to sound like [Em]the band,
but if it does, well,
that's just so much [E]more.
