[G]We fought for nine hours fully,
before the strife was o'er.
The likes of dead and wounded,

and [G]the Indians they had fled.
We loaded [D]up our rifles and
[G]counted up our [D]dead.
[G]And all of us were wounded,
our noble Captain slain.
The sun was shining sadly across
that bloody [D]plain.
Sixteen, the brave Rangers that
[G]never roamed the west,
Were buried by their [D]comrades
with [G]arrows in their [D]breast.
