[Verse 1]
Back in the [D]days when cowboying actually existed,
there was a young chap
who wished to be a cowboy.
He had heard all about the romantic life
of the cowboy, etc.
Although history [A]rather well documents
the fact that the [D]cowboy, by and large,
was a pretty scurvy lot,
and unhygienic to boot,
and so were the cattle,
this is a heart -rending tale
prepared to be rendered.
There once was a lavender cowboy,
[G]the hai[D]rs on his chest wer[A]e few.
He [D]wanted to follow the [G]heroes
and to [D]do as [A]the cowboys do.
[D]But he was inwardly troubled
[G]by [D]dreams that gave him [A]no rest.
And [D]when he woke up every morn[G]ing
he had [D]only [A]two hairs on his [D]chest.
Herpicide and many hair ton[G]ics
he [D]spread on morning [A]and night.
But each [D]time that he looked
into the mir[G]ror,
only two [D]hair[A]s grew in [D]sight.
He battled for a woman's honor,
[G]and he bro[D]ke up a hold -up[A] nest.
And he died [D]with his six guns a [A]-smokin',
but [D]only two [A]hairs in [D]his chest.
Thank you.
